The game of hockey is a common pass time in many Saskatchewan communities and in Maple Creek the sport has taken on a unique twist with two neighbors coming together at the local rink for the“Battle of the Little Big Puck.”An event which was initiated over 40 years ago by several residents of the Nekaneet First Nation and area Cowboys while sitting around the table at a local tavern.

A special thanks to the Southwest Saskatchewan Oldtimers’ Museum in Maple Creek for their assistance with the location for our interviews. It’s a beautiful building with many great artifacts.
