Following two action-packed, and acclaimed seasons, Staying Wild returns for a third season on Citytv
Saskatchewan, premiering April 7th, 2025. The six-part docu-series follows the daily drama at the Living
Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (LSWR) as staff members rehabilitate an assortment of wild animals.
LSWR is one of the busiest rescue centres in Western Canada, treating more than 2,000 animals each
season.
The series takes place in the city of Saskatoon, highlighting the delicate relationship between wild
animals and an urban setting. Each episode follows Jan Shadick and her team as they encounter animals
and birds brought into the centre requiring varying degrees of medical attention.
Among the animals highlighted this season are a muskrat, raccoons, skunks, a beaver, a weasel and an
angry ferruginous hawk. But as was the case in the first two seasons, the animals featured are just half
the story, as the emotional stakes for the humans who look after them reach a whole new level in
season three.
The season kicks off with an emotional and physical journey as the team attempts to return the two
otters we met in season two, Eddie and Oscar, to the wild where they belong, in Northern
Saskatchewan. As the season continues, the issue of compassion fatigue is highlighted, as several
exhausted key team members take a step back this year, forcing Jan to rely on newcomers in a way she
has never had to before. She and her team members are pushed to the brink by the annual influx of
animals and the life and death decisions they are forced to make on a daily basis.
Producer Jackie Kripki stated: “Once again, our hearts are stolen by the critters that Living Sky rescues,
but also by the humans who work desperately to save them. It’s an exciting season and an emotional
one, for sure.”
The team behind Staying Wild is also thrilled to announce the show will be going international this year,
as through a partnership with Blue Ant Media, it will premiere in the United States on the Nat Geo Wild
channel. The show will be rebranded as Wildlife Rehab for American audiences.
The program will air weekly on Citytv Saskatchewan, premiering on April the 7th at 10pm, with a repeat
broadcast on Saturday, April 12th at 4pm. The series will also be available on citytv.com on demand in
Saskatchewan.
Staying Wild is a collaboration between three Saskatchewan production companies – Little Ox Film
Company, Overtime Studios, and 3 Story Pictures. It was commissioned by Citytv and produced with
additional financial support from Canada Media Fund, SaskTel Max Equity Fund, and Creative
Saskatchewan’s production grant.
