Life Inside the Meadows is a short documentary set in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, exploring what daily life looks like inside a long-term care facility through the experience of one resident.

The film follows Anita as she navigates life at the Meadows — calling bingo, creating artwork, supporting the resident van, and volunteering in the wider community. Through her story, Life Inside the Meadows reveals a more complete picture of long-term care: one that includes not only support and routine, but also contribution, independence, and connection.

Life inside the Meadows holds many realities at once. There are moments of community and moments of isolation, structure and unpredictability, quiet reflection and shared experience. Anita moves through all of it with intention — finding ways to stay engaged and connected, both within the building and beyond it.

As the film unfolds, we begin to see that long-term care is not simply a place people go at the end of life. It is also a place where life continues — shaped by the people who live and work there, and by the relationships that extend into the surrounding community.

This film was made with sincere appreciation for the residents and staff of the Meadows, whose openness and participation made this story possible. We also acknowledge the Saskatchewan Health Authority for granting access and supporting the production.

These films matter because they help us see differently—and when we see differently, we begin to live differently.
